GUTIERREZ-COLLAO, Jairo Edson et al. Geometric methods to estimate heights of stems and mature trees in Acraquia, Peru. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.23, pp.463-471. Epub 02-Maio-2024. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v8i23.278.
The evaluation of growth in height is essential in optimizing forest management and obtaining timber products. Aim. Compare the geometric methods lumberjack, units, 1:10 and shadows, to estimate heights of stems and mature trees of a Eucalvptus spp plantation in Acraquia, Peru. Materials and methods. The research design was randomized experimental, with a 4X2 factorial arrangement. The height of 320 individuals from an 11-year-old plantation was estimated; 3 m stakes and a 30 m measuring tape were used. For statistical analyses, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Levene and Duncan test were used. The results indicate that there is no significant difference between the geometric methods, but there is a significant difference between stems and mature trees. Conclusions. The estimation of heights can be carried out using any of the compared methods, which helps to optimize the use of time, personnel and equipment, since it is not necessary to invest in one in particular.
