Resumen

VALDEZ OCAMPO, Florencio David et al. Evaluation of Corn Cultivars (Zea maíz L.) Planted in Different Spatial Arrangements. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.23, pp.363-375.  Epub 02-Mayo-2024. ISSN 2664-0902.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v8i23.269.

The spacing between plants is crucial in maize cultivation, directly impacting harvest efficiency. This research evaluated the performance of three maize varieties in different spatial arrangements. A 3x4 split-plot design with 3 replications was used, totaling 36 experimental units. The varieties "Tupi Pytã," "Morotĩ," and the hybrid "Tupi pytã DK390" were assessed at various planting spacings. Various plant characteristics were analyzed, compared using analysis of variance and Tukey tests. Significant differences were found among cultivars, with "Morotĩ" standing out. Productivity and harvest index increased with wider plant spacings. The hybrid "DK 390" exhibited a higher number of rows per cob. Vegetative characteristics were not affected by spacing variations. The best results were achieved with a spacing of 0.30 meters between plants and 0.90 meters between rows.
