Pollinating insects are at risk of extinction due to the lack of knowledge about their role in crops and the misuse of chemical products. This study was carried out with the objective of characterizing pollinating insects, their abundance, dominance and diversity in organic and conventional chocho (Lupinus mutabilis Sweet) crops in the Cotopaxi Province, parishes: Aláquez, Cusubamba, Guaytacama, Pujilí and Juan Montalvo. During the flowering season, chromatic traps (yellow plates) were placed with water and soap to capture pollinating insects and their characterization was carried out with the help of the iNaturalist application. Abundance in relation to precipitation, altitude and temperature was determined by multivariate analysis and the Shannon-Weaver index was used to estimate diversity. We found the presence of: Astylus, Eristalis, Carposcalis, Toxomerus, Allograpta, Cynomya, Chrysomya, Dilophus, Tachina, Tipula, Nephrotoma, Apis, Caenohalictus, Mythimna, Penaincisalia, Hedriodiscus, Platycheirus and Megachile. Parishes with lower rainfall reached higher abundance. Temperature was the limiting factor for the presence of pollinators. Diversity in organic crops reached an average of 1.54 (low range) and for dominance, Simpson's index 0.34 (far from 1), values considered inversely proportional to each other. In conventional crops, an average of 1.07 (low range) was found, while the dominance 0.48 (far from 1), being results inversely proportional to each other.
