CASTANEDA CHIRRE, Elvira Teófila et al. Sustainability with compost based on market residues to obtain a higher yield of radish (Raphanus sativus L.), Barranca. Rev. Inv. Cs. Agro. y Vet. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.18, pp.567-580. Epub 15-Dic-2022. ISSN 2664-0902. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistaalfa.v6i18.192.
The rise in food and energy prices due to the pandemic and the geopolitical problem between Russia and Ukraine have affected the global economy. For this reason, research was conducted on sustainability with compost based on market waste to obtain higher yields of radish in Barranca. The objective was to determine the appropriate dose of compost to obtain sustainable yields of radish. It is based on applied methodology; therefore, it used a completely randomized block design consisting of 3 blocks and 5 treatments. The compost doses were applied and the physical characteristics, amount of usable nitrogen and economic analysis were evaluated. It was determined that in physical characteristics the T5 with 10 tn/ha stood out in plant length with 28.23 cm, plant weight with 41.86 g, equatorial diameter with 3.65 cm, polar diameter with 4.11 cm, commercial yield with 12.051 tn/ha, nitrogen utilization with 194.44 kg/ha, economic analysis with S/. 3000 soles ($777.54 US dollars). It is concluded that the highest dose of compost based on market residues, T5 with 10 tn/ha, obtained a higher yield of 12.051 tn/ha, differing by 23.50% with respect to T1 (control); however, it did not reach the conventional, which doubles the yield and lower price; however, it is sustainable because it improves and preserves the soil properties, obtains ecological fruit and reduces environmental pollution.
