ALVAREZ SALAZAR, Edery León et al. Coastal Niño phenomenon and quality of service in educational institutions on the left bank of the Rímac river. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.38, pp.2328-2337. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i38.1054.
This study examines the relationship between the El Niño Costero phenomenon (ENCF) and the quality of educational services in institutions on the left bank of the Rimac River in Lima. The objective was to determine how the ENCF affects educational quality in this vulnerable area. The methodology employed a quantitative approach with descriptive correlational design. We surveyed 156 teachers from 8 educational institutions using a validated questionnaire. The analysis included descriptive and inferential statistics. The results revealed a worrying lack of preparedness for the FENC. Only 23.1% of respondents indicated that risk assessments are performed frequently, while 48% reported that they are almost never or never done. The implementation of prevention and mitigation plans was also low. It was concluded that there is a significant relationship between the FENC and the quality of the educational service, evidencing the need to strengthen risk management in educational institutions in the area to improve their resilience to extreme weather events.
