VILLANUEVA VALERA, Milagritos del Rosario e MESTANZA ARRIAGA, Merly Madeleine. Quality of educational services in secondary schools in Latin America: a narrative review. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.38, pp.2116-2129. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i38.1039.
This article analyzes the current state of the debate surrounding the quality of educational services in secondary schools in Latin America, based on a narrative review of recent literature. Ten thematic categories were identified that group together the main research approaches: conception of quality, educational management, leadership, teacher commitment, institutional climate, student perception, service evaluation, school administration, human talent, and incorporation of ICT. The findings show a tendency to link quality with both pedagogical and organizational factors, highlighting the importance of school leadership, student perception, and institutional management as key elements. Likewise, good practices and methodological proposals that have contributed to the improvement of educational services were identified. It is concluded that quality in secondary education is a multidimensional phenomenon that needs to be addressed from integrative and contextualized approaches, considering the particularities of Latin American education systems.
