The development of research skills is essential for the training of professionals. The aim of this study was to describe teaching strategies for optimizing research skills in university students. The methodology used was a systematic review of scientific articles published in indexed journals and disseminated in specialized bibliographic databases such as WOS, Scielo, Scopus, Science Direct, Embase, Redalyc, and Latindex, performing an advanced search with the help of the logical operators and, not, and or. The inclusion criteria were review articles and scientific articles from studies conducted in Latin America between 2020 and 2022, and the exclusion criteria were articles that were not related to teaching strategies for optimizing research skills. A total of 161 articles were obtained in the search, and 28 studies were selected according to the criteria set out. It was concluded that teaching strategies are essential for optimizing research skills.
