MALPARTIDA REPETTO, José Luis y SOBRADO CHAVEZ, Felix Dulio. Snoezelen room in the development of children with disabilities. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.38, pp.2010-2023. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i38.1032.
Snoezelen or multisensory rooms have emerged as innovative spaces to promote integral development in children with disabilities. The objective was to analyze their impact considering history, global expansion, areas of intervention and types of disability attended. A systematic review of national and international scientific literature was carried out, compiling relevant studies on their therapeutic and educational application. The results show benefits in sensory, cognitive, motor and socioemotional areas, highlighting improvements in children with autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and multiple disabilities. In addition, it was identified that an early, personalized intervention with family support is essential to enhance the positive effects. It is concluded that the Snoezelen rooms represent a valuable resource to improve the quality of life, favor social inclusion and strengthen adaptive skills in children with disabilities.
