FLORES-ROSADO, Cristina Beatriz et al. Personality and resilience in health sciences students at a university in southern Peru. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.38, pp.1849-1863. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i38.1021.
In the field of higher education, particularly in the field of health sciences, there is a growing interest in understanding and analyzing variables such as personality and the ability to face and overcome academic and personal challenges, i.e. resilience. Thus, it is expected to contribute to knowledge through the analysis of these variables in students of a university in southern Peru. The objective of the study was to analyze the relationship between personality and resilience in health sciences students at a university in southern Peru. The research followed a quantitative design, of a cross-sectional correlational type, the data obtained in a sample of 347 university students belonging to professional schools related to health sciences were analyzed, to whom the Reduced Five Factor Inventory NEO-FFI and the Resilience Scale were administered, which were previously submitted to a reliability procedure, obtaining high indexes. A significant negative correlation was found between resilience and neuroticism (p<0.05; rho -0.382), and a significant positive correlation between resilience and conscientiousness (p<0.05; rho 0.230). No significant relationships were found between resilience and the factors of extraversion, openness and agreeableness.
