Gender equality in preschool education is fundamental for the development of a more equitable society. The objective of this study was to describe the manifestations of gender equality in the children of the Jesús María Educational Institution, located in Ucayali. A quantitative approach was applied, at a simple descriptive level, with a sample of 26 children of 5 years of age. Observation and interview were used for data collection, by means of an observation form and a structured questionnaire. The results revealed that the teams formed by boys and girls show a deficient level of gender equality. Likewise, a marked influence of sociocultural stereotypes was identified in the preferences of toys, colors, games and vocational choices. It is concluded that gender equality has not yet been consolidated in this age group, which shows the need to intervene from the initial stage.
