SILVA HUARCAYA, Joselyn Gloria. Digital competence in university students. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.38, pp.1700-1708. Epub 01-Abr-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i38.1010.
In the current context, digital competence is an indispensable skill for students, especially those immersed in higher education. They are expected to have not only a basic mastery of everyday applications, but also an advanced handling of technological skills. In this sense, a recent research was conducted with the aim of assessing the level of digital competence among students at a university in Lima. This study, framed in a descriptive non-experimental design, randomly selected 150 students to submit them to a questionnaire adapted to contemporary academic and technological needs. The results revealed an interesting picture: 43% of the students demonstrated a high level of digital competence, while the remaining 57% were at an average level. These findings suggest that college students have the ability to acquire and develop strong digital skills, even in circumstances where they are unfamiliar with online education. A key issue is the effectiveness of pedagogical strategies and the ability to take advantage of available virtual tools. The conclusion is clear: with the right pedagogical approach, students can overcome barriers and adapt efficiently to a digital environment, which is critical in today's educational landscape. These results highlight the importance of designing educational strategies that enhance digital skills, providing students with the necessary tools to face technological challenges in their academic and professional path.
