Environmental awareness in early education is a key aspect in the formation of sustainable habits. The objective of this study was to identify the level of environmental awareness in an educational institution in Tumbes. A descriptive approach was used with a sample of 32 students of five years of age, to whom an observation form was applied. The results indicated that 50 % of the participants presented a medium level of environmental awareness, while 40.62 % showed a low level, evidencing a negative trend in the variable. These findings highlight the need to strengthen pedagogical strategies that promote responsible attitudes towards the environment from early childhood.
