Social media has profoundly transformed communication, facilitating interaction between various actors, including teachers and students. The objective of the study is to analyze the use of social media to strengthen interaction between students and teachers in Latin American universities. The approach is qualitative, its methodology was focused on a systematic review of the literature in 2023, for its preparation the guidelines of the PRISMA 2020 declaration were followed. A total of 840 records were identified through searches in the PubMed (400), EBSCO (340) and WOS (100) databases. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, leaving a sample of 11 studies. The results indicate that, although social media offer opportunities to enrich the educational process, they also present challenges that require continuous adaptation. In conclusion, social media are valuable tools to improve educational interaction, but their successful integration depends on strategic and thoughtful use in the academic environment.
