QUINTANA OTERO, Ramiro Norberto y PALACIOS GARAY, Jessica Paola. Group cohesion in physical education: a systematic review. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.37, pp.1439-1457. Epub 24-Feb-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i37.992.
Group cohesion in sports activities fosters trust, communication and teamwork among participants. The aim of this research was to describe the state of research on the implications of group cohesion in physical education. The methodology used was a qualitative systematic review, in the Scopus, SciELO and Web of Science databases, between 2018 and 2023. To structure the process, the updated PRISMA guide was used, considering 17 studies that met the inclusion criteria. It is concluded that group cohesion improves team performance, develops social and psychological skills and fosters self-confidence and well-being in athletes. Strategies to foster group cohesion include team building, collective scoring, inclusion, continuous assessment, cooperative learning and the use of games; factors such as empowering leadership and motivation are also crucial.
