Critical thinking is an essential tool for students, as it allows them to analyze, question and deeply understand the information they receive and make informed decisions, the problem was lack and lack of knowledge of these skills, the objective was: To analyze the critical thinking variable shown by studies published during 2012 to 2024.This study is a basic research, mixed, systematic review, according to PRISMA 2020. Search engines and databases SciELO and Scopus were used. 30 articles were obtained, of which were extracted from the Scopus database 33% And SciELO 67%.The result of the analysis, we found studies that predominantly quantitative designs (53%), followed by qualitative (37%) and mixed (10%).Countries with higher production: Spain 20% , Peru 20%. There are gaps in the appropriation of critical thinking in students from different educational environments, concluding that it is a variable that deserves to be studied in the national context.
