CANALES CONCE, Félix Amadeo; ROMERO CARBAJAL, Evelin e RODRIGUEZ BENITES, Carlos Edgardo. Development of mathematical competencies in secondary school students in the central region of Peru. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.37, pp.1066-1081. Epub 24-Fev-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i37.969.
Educational systems need accurate information on students’ achievement of competencies during virtual education. This research assessed the level of development of mathematical competencies during the Covid-19 pandemic in a secondary school in the region of Huancavelica, Peru. The design was non-experimental and quantitative. Fifty-five mathematics portfolios of fifth grade students were analysed, assessed with analytical rubrics that have content validity and reliability. The results indicate that the level of development of mathematical competences in solving problems of quantity, regularity, equivalence and change, shape, movement and location, and data management and uncertainty is in progress, with medians between 11.0 and 13.1 points on a vigesimal scale. In conclusion, the level of development of mathematical competences did not reach the expected levels for the grade level, according to the curricular programming.
