Abstract
CHAVEZ ESPINOZA, Patricia Emperatriz; LOPEZ BONIFACIO, María Soledad and CACERES TOVAR, Nelly Jeannette. Effect of an inference strategy on reading comprehension of secondary school students. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.37, pp.818-832. Epub Feb 24, 2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i37.953.
In order to achieve effective reading comprehension, it is essential to apply strategies. For this reason, the present research aimed to analyze the impact of using the inference strategy on the reading comprehension of high school students belonging to a UGEL in Lima, Peru. A quantitative, applied and quasi-experimental approach was adopted. The sample consisted of 60 first-year high school students, divided into a control and experimental group, to whom initial and final tests were applied. The results showed that the strategy had a positive effect on improving reading comprehension and on the stages of reading and psychological processes of reading. The Mann-Whitney U test confirmed that it significantly influences by evidencing statistically significant differences between the groups, which supports its effectiveness. It concludes with the recommendation of its implementation in the classrooms.
