The changes in secondary education as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic generated a great challenge that encouraged innovation and the achievement of educational quality. The aim of the study was to analyze the changes in secondary education as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. A systematic review of research articles was carried out using the PRISMA method, applying as a search protocol the keywords Distance education, Secondary education, COVID-19 pandemic using the Booleans “AND” and “OR”. Inclusion criteria included publications in the following databases: Scopus, Web of science, Ebsco, Scielo, and ProQuest, in English and Spanish from the last five years (2019-2023). The exclusion criteria were: research not relevant to the study, without methodological information. It is concluded that the major change in secondary education was the adaptation of all educational actors to the distance learning modality.
