CESPEDES VASQUEZ, Lidia. Self-esteem, family violence and academic performance in Peruvian university students. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.36, pp.199-210. Epub 21-Jan-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i36.911.
Family violence affects the self-esteem of different family members and in turn, academic performance. The research is of correlational type. The sample consisted of 55 university students. For data collection, the instrument used for the self-esteem variable was the Coopersmith scale (1959), adapted from Lachira (2013), composed of 25 items, distributed in 3 dimensions: general, social and family. In the case of the family violence variable, the family violence questionnaire (CVIFA) of Altamirano (2020) was used, which has 46 items distributed in two dimensions: physical and psychological violence. The chi-square test showed that all models are significant (p<0.05), and the Nagelkerke's pseudo R2 indicator ranged from 0.6822 for M1 to 0.9606 for M4. Self-esteem and family violence significantly influence the academic performance of university students.
