Reading and comprehension are fundamental skills; if a student does not read well and has difficulties in understanding a text, he/she will have difficulties in learning. The objective of this research was to determine the level of reading comprehension in students of the VI Cycle of secondary education in a public educational institution in the district of El Agustino in the year 2022. The type of research was basic, with a descriptive non-experimental design. Reading comprehension was evaluated in 317 students through the CompLEC test that measures information retrieval, information integration and reflection. The results obtained: students reached 72.2% at a low level, 25.9% at a regular level and 1.9% at a high level. It is concluded that the remote teaching, the use of not very innovative strategies for the development of reading comprehension have had an impact in obtaining these results.
