FARIAS, Edinson Junior Merino. Anxiety and psychological well-being in university students. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.36, pp.128-139. Epub 21-Jan-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i36.905.
Anxiety is one of the most prevalent mental disorders worldwide, with a significant impact on psychological well-being. This study analyzed the influence of anxiety on the psychological well-being of Psychology students from I to VI cycle in a private university in Chincha, Peru, in 2024. Under a quantitative and correlational approach, we worked with a representative sample of 77 students selected by finite population calculation at 95 % confidence. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale, which assesses psychological and physical anxiety, and the Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale, which measures six key dimensions, were used. The results showed a strong negative correlation between the two variables (r = -0.7897 to -0.8969), confirming with 95 % statistical certainty that anxiety adversely affects student psychological well-being. These findings underline the importance of implementing preventive strategies in the university context.
