FERNANDEZ MORALES, Jhanaly Lady Noelia e SAYAN BRITO, Jacqueline Susana. Use of ICTs and research skills in times of pandemic COVID-19. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2025, vol.9, n.36, pp.37-47. Epub 21-Jan-2025. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v9i36.898.
Information and communication technologies (ICT) are usually associated with entertainment; however, they can also be used to obtain, organize and analyze relevant information in the development of efficient research. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of ICT and research skills in undergraduate university students. A quantitative, non-experimental, basic and cross-sectional correlational research was carried out. The sample consisted of 62 students selected by non-probabilistic sampling. For data collection, two surveys were applied with high reliability (α = 0.957 for ICT use and α = 1.00 for research competencies). The results showed that 52 % of the participants presented an outstanding level in the use of ICT, while 60 % reached a fully adequate level in investigative competencies. It was concluded that there is a moderate correlation between the use of ICT and research skills, which shows the importance of implementing strategies that enhance access to adequate and effective information in the development of research work.
