Problem-based learning is a methodology focused on promoting critical thinking, knowledge construction, decision making and teamwork. The objective of the study was to analyze the perspectives related to problem-based learning (PBL) in the educational context. The methodology was developed with a qualitative approach using the modality of systematic review of documents in the Scopus, PubMed, Dialnet, Redalyc and Scielo databases that were published between 2015 and 2024. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 22 articles were analyzed. In the results, the significance of the combination of PBL with other methods or strategies was evidenced; likewise, the active participation of students was evidenced. It was concluded that PBL is linked to the promotion of different types of thinking, communicative skills and methodologies, and therefore has a positive impact on student achievement.
