In the educational field, rubrics have been consolidated as fundamental tools to optimize assessment and improve the teaching and learning process. This study aims to analyze the impact of rubrics in formative assessment and their influence on the development of skills and abilities in students. A systematic review methodology was used following PRISMA guidelines, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to select relevant studies on the application of rubrics in educational contexts. From a total of 119 studies initially identified, 18 were selected for detailed analysis, after applying quality and relevance criteria. The results of this review reveal that rubrics are recognized for their ability to improve the objectivity of assessment, facilitate constructive feedback and foster the development of key competencies in students. In addition, their application contributes to reducing grading time and ensuring greater fairness in assessment, allowing students to clearly identify their strengths and areas for improvement. In conclusion, the implementation of rubrics in the educational process not only optimizes formative assessment, but also strengthens the teaching-learning process, providing a clear and coherent structure that guides students towards the achievement of the established pedagogical objectives.
