In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a crucial role in the advancement of teaching and learning processes in education. Therefore, it is essential to review the contributions of AI and synthesize experiences that benefit early childhood education. This article aims to identify how AI has been applied in preschool education curriculum design, evaluate its effectiveness, and determine best practices to improve the quality of learning. A systematic review methodology was employed, analyzing articles published between 2011 and 2022 in the Scopus database. From a total of 524 studies, 20 investigations were selected after applying eligibility criteria. Relevant findings address introduction to AI, machine learning, artificial intelligence techniques, and ethics in the use of AI. In conclusion, AI can be a valuable tool for improving the quality of preschool education.
