Nowadays, digital competencies (DCs) are crucial for academic success, as they facilitate access to information and enhance learning. This study evaluated the impact of DC on academic performance in art classes, using a quantitative correlational approach with a census sample of 30 students. The DC variable was measured using the DigComp instrument, based on the European framework for DC development, which includes six areas and 23 competencies at six levels. Academic performance was assessed on the basis of final course grades. The results showed a significant correlation (r = 0.8775, p<0.05) between CDs (X) and academic performance (Y). In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of developing and strengthening DCs to improve academic performance, emphasizing their essential role in contemporary education.
