This study addresses the relationship between research competencies and environmental awareness of secondary school teachers. The objective was to determine the incidence of research competencies on the environmental awareness of these teachers. A quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental design and a causal correlational level. The study population consisted of 450 secondary school teachers, from which a sample of 208 was selected. The technique used was the survey and the instruments were questionnaires. The results showed that research competencies have a significant incidence on environmental awareness, with a Nagelkerke's Pseudo R² of 0.719, indicating that 71.9% of the variability in environmental awareness can be explained by research competencies. In addition, the dimension of communication and dissemination of scientific results presented a Wald value of 188.691 and p < 0.05, evidencing its impact on environmental awareness. It was concluded that there is a significant impact of research competencies on the environmental awareness of secondary school teachers.
