VICENTE, Helí Yonel Santamaria et al. Environmental management and awareness among teachers in public institutions. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.34, pp.1359-1373. Epub 25-Jul-2024. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v8i34.802.
The research examines the relationship between environmental management and environmental awareness in teachers of public institutions. The objective was to establish how these two concepts are interrelated in this specific group. A basic methodology was employed, with a descriptive approach, and the hypothetico-deductive method was used with a non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational design. The sample consisted of 100 teachers selected by non-probabilistic sampling, from a total population of 1503 teachers. The reliability of the environmental management questionnaire was .947 and of the environmental awareness questionnaire was .829, both measured by Cronbach's alpha. The results indicated a direct and significant relationship between environmental management and environmental awareness, with a Spearman's Rho coefficient of 0.748 and a p-value < 0.05. In addition, a significant correlation was found with the cognitive, affective, conative and active dimensions of environmental awareness, also with p < 0.05. It is concluded that improving environmental management in public institutions can strengthen the environmental awareness of teachers, contributing to greater preservation of the planet's resources and more effective environmental education.
