TAIPE MENDOZA, Marisol Marlene  e  HERRERA OSORIO, Luis Alberto. Challenges of educational inclusion in a rural area of Cusco. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2024, vol.8, n.34, pp.1341-1358.  Epub 25-Jul-2024. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v8i34.801.

This article makes visible the problems of students with disabilities in a rural area of Cusco. The challenges of educational inclusion are determined, considering the barriers that affect this population. The original research employed a qualitative methodology with an action research design, applied to 27 families and 5 teachers through a survey of ordinal scales. The results showed that communication between students and educational institutions was limited, mainly through conventional cell phones, in an environment with poor connectivity. In addition, the families lived in conditions of extreme poverty, being engaged in agriculture, commerce and casual labor, which meant that the educational responsibility fell mostly on the mothers. Teachers expressed the need for specialized training and proposed the use of appropriate printed materials adapted to the needs of students with disabilities as a way to mitigate technological and economic barriers.

Palavras-chave : Connectivity; Inclusive education; Rural area.
