Scientific comprehension and literacy is fundamental in education, as it allows students to develop their reading comprehension skills of scientific texts. The aim of this study was to analyze the comprehension of academic sources for scientific literacy at school. The systematic review methodology was used, which allowed the identification and selection of primary articles from the Scopus and Web of Science databases between 2012 and 2023. According to the inclusion criteria, 27 articles were selected for analysis and interpretation. Concluding that the understanding of academic sources in the school setting is essential to promote scientific literacy among students. The pedagogical efforts of teachers are not only focused on improving reading skills, but also on fostering the capacity for assimilation, contextual inference and application of knowledge in academic and everyday contexts.
