Abstract

RODAS, Samuel Elvis Acuña  and  CARDENAS, Marilyn García. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an intervention for pre-competitive anxiety: AG Program in Peruvian soccer players. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2023, vol.7, n.31, pp.2252-2264.  Epub Oct 16, 2023. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v7i31.660.

The current problem of soccer players is precompetitive anxiety, causing a deterioration in sports performance, due to the adrenaline secretion caused by the state of alertness. The objective of the study was to identify the efficacy of the AG program as a psychological intervention from cognitive behavioral therapy against precompetitive anxiety in Peruvian soccer players. A quasi-experimental study was carried out, applied to 44 soccer players, divided into the control group (CG) and experimental group (GX); the CSAI-2 test was used as a measurement to obtain the indicators of the dimensions of precompetitive anxiety: somatic anxiety (ASOM), cognitive anxiety (ACOG) and self-confidence (AUCON). The normality test was performed to identify the statistical distribution; a horizontal analysis: Wilcoxon, (t=1.000) (GX) and (t=0.97) (GC), the results indicate that the AG program offers significant improvements; and vertically: Mann-Whitney U, (t0) =0.037 and (t1) = 0.428, demonstrating optimal results in the soccer players. It is concluded that the "AG Program" shows a significant decrease in the precompetitive anxiety variable in the experimental group, while focusing on cognitive behavioral training to improve sports performance on the soccer field.
