At the higher education level, the aim is to ensure a correct teaching and learning process, where university students can cope with various life situations. In view of the fact that they are part of a society that is in constant change, they need to potentiate social skills which are determinant for the success and integral development of university life. In this sense, the purpose of the article was to identify the social skills in university life, recognizing their importance and characteristics. The method applied to collect information was the systematic review of literature from sources between 2020 and 2021, from which 16 academic articles obtained from databases such as Scopus and Scielo were analyzed. It was concluded that social skills are fundamental in the university environment, because they allow to be prepared for the challenges of the world, both work and personal.
