Emotional intelligence is the ability of people to be able to direct their actions, emotions and feelings, as well as to understand the circumstances of other people. The objective of this article is to identify the development of emotional intelligence in the context of distance education. Therefore, the method used was the systematic review of the literature considering the development of the topic in the context of the pandemic. The information was obtained from the ProQuest and EBSCOHost databases from 2020 to 2022 in Spanish. The total of the search was 108 articles, from which 13 research studies were chosen considering the objectives, types of research and study population. Accordingly, it was concluded that emotional intelligence was addressed in different social aspects, but that in the school stage emphasis should be placed on its academic and emotional development.
