The COVID-19 pandemic had an adverse influence on education, especially since it began with the temporary closure of universities in Peru and the world. The aim of the study was to identify the levels of burnout syndrome in students of the Universidad Privada San Carlos SAC during the pandemic in the Puno region of Peru. A total of 162 students participated in the study, of which 42% were male (n = 68) and 58% were female (n = 94), the average age was 29.41 (± 8.12) years. The Maslach inventory was used in the study. Single students presented a higher prevalence of burnout syndrome than married students. There is a higher prevalence of emotional exhaustion in students whose ages are less than 30 years. Burnout syndrome affected the mental health of the student population during the Pandemic.
