A negative and ruthless work climate hinders productivity, while supportive and positive work climates create the conditions for growth and better performance. Given the importance of work climate, the study aims to characterize the global scientific production on work climate in state universities, evaluating the Scopus and Web of Science databases, extracting 107 documents, generating a higher average number of citations in Scopus of 6.15 and 4.76 for Web of Science. The author Osman Adam and the journal, Higher Education, Indonesia and Brazil are the countries with the greatest amount of research and the type of scientific production that stands out the most are the original articles. Finally, it is concluded by evidencing a slight decrease in scientific production, proposing topics that relate climate with work employee management, impact perceptions design and as an emerging and challenging topic: consequences culture level.
