During virtual or distance education, teachers had to look for strategies that would allow the continuity of the educational service, therefore, the use of technological devices could be an alternative. The objective of the study was to describe collaborative learning and WhatsApp in the educational field. The qualitative approach of literature review was used, for which the following databases were consulted: Scopus (2), Web of Science (WOS) (2). and Scientific Electronic Library Online SciELO (4), having as inclusion criteria to have been published in the year 2020 to 2022, to be open access, in English or Spanish. The review of academic literature led to the conclusion that the use of the WhatsApp application can be an alternative, as well as other mobile devices, to develop collaborative learning due to its easy access and the fact that it enables access to online educational resources.
