Resumen

TAPIA, Carolina. Moodle as a Virtual Learning Environment that promotes self-learning and critical thinking. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.26, pp.2238-2253.  Epub 23-Dic-2022. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v6i26.488.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced Higher Education Institutions to opt for new learning scenarios, including technological tools such as Moodle. The research objective was to demonstrate how the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment contributes to the development of autonomous work and the student's critical thinking. The terms of the study variables were searched in five databases (DB) considering publications from the last five years, to determine the number of investigations significant to the study. 980 papers on the subject were found, which were subjected to selection and information extraction criteria, leaving only 27 articles to be analyzed under the PRISMA methodology; concluding that the Moodle platform provides tools that allow the development of autonomous student work and that it can foster critical thinking skills that must be incorporated into the educational process.

Palabras clave : Autonomous learning; Pedagogical activities; Critical Thinking; online platforms.
