Abstract

AGUIRRE OCANA, Gladys Nancy et al. Social skills and school climate in a public educational institution in Lima. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.26, pp.1941-1950.  Epub Nov 23, 2022. ISSN 2616-7964.  https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v6i26.463.

The study reports a review exercise of the concept of social skills development in students with a view to contribute to the improvement of school climate in institutions. The study aims to demonstrate the influence of social skills development on the improvement of school climate in an educational institution. The study is of non-experimental design, correlational type with quantitative methodology. The population consisted of 54 students and the sample was a census. Two standardized questionnaires were used as instruments: for the social skills variable, the Goldstein questionnaire was used, which comprised five dimensions; for the school climate variable, the Classroom Environment Scale (CES) questionnaire was used. According to the results, the value of R = 0.712 and p < 0.01 were obtained, so it is affirmed that there is a positive and high correlation between both variables, concluding that social skills have an influence on school climate and its dimensions.
