The cognitive process, from learning to write, to reading and understanding what is being read is very complex. For this reason, the objective is to analyze the process of reading comprehension from the perspective of critical thinking. In the current circumstances, where virtuality has changed the paradigm, reading comprehension has moved to a high-impact technological approach, but, even knowing that everything is "more automatic". The process of reading comprehension in relation to the critical thinking of Facione, 2007 is analyzed from the biographical-narrative method by considering the results of the ECE 2019 test, which involved 165658 students in Peru, given that these are two categories very well linked to the didactic teaching practices. To conclude, it is highlighted that reading comprehension is unsustainable if critical thinking is not considered; therefore, it can be emphasized that the process of reading comprehension should lead to the development of knowledge.
