The Peruvian government has implemented several educational "reforms"; however, it is not enough effort to focus on a reform aimed at the managers of educational institutions. It is important to have a specialization in management for principals, since in our country there is no career called Administration of education, pedagogical practice or management itself. The purpose of this paper is to describe educational management as an important factor to achieve quality in education. The type of research is descriptive; the objective is to characterize the management of the principal of the Educational Institution "Gustavo Mohme Llona" of the district of Puente Piedra in 2016. The results show that the principal's management can be considered not very efficient. In conclusion, the three dimensions of management allow studying the functioning of an Educational Institution and quality, as an adjustment to a purpose, seeks to give autonomy and empowerment to the principal to achieve the proposed objectives.
