CHARRY AYSANOA, Juan et al. Levels of self-concept, strategic information processing and academic performance in a public university. Horizontes Rev. Inv. Cs. Edu. [online]. 2022, vol.6, n.24, pp.1091-1100. Epub 30-Jun-2022. ISSN 2616-7964. https://doi.org/10.33996/revistahorizontes.v6i24.399.
Self-concept and the capacity to process information are essential factors in the academic formation of university students. The article seeks to determine the relationship between the levels of self-concept and strategic information processing with academic performance in university students of the National Amazonian University of Madre de Dios, Professional Career of Agroindustrial Engineering. It is descriptive and assumes a non-experimental correlational design. The sample consisted of 90 students. Two data collection instruments were applied through the survey technique: valid and reliable questionnaires. The existence of an inverse relationship between self-concept and academic performance (r=-0.658) and strategic information processing with performance (r=-0.464) is reported. The university students who are in regular levels of self-concept and information processing ability do not present a good academic performance. This explains the direct inverse relationship between self-concept and information processing and academic performance.
