Sexting is an increasingly common practice among adolescents, the problem is the misuse that could be given to the information shared that would lead to see their privacy exposed without their consent. The study systematizes research results related to sexting in high school students. It identified and described findings from studies conducted from 2010 to 2020. It is a theoretical-descriptive research of documentary type and 28 scientific publications were analyzed. The findings show that most of the research was oriented to establish the prevalence of sexting, incidence by sex and scarcely associated with motivations and consequences. It is concluded that studies in different geographical and temporal contexts, establish prevalence of sexting in students between the ages of 12 and 18 years old, and a considerable percentage claim to know cases of sexting in their environment. Regarding the sex of the participants, it is evident that there is a significant difference, with a higher percentage in males.
