The approach was qualitative of hermeneutic design. The participants were six teachers, experts in formative assessment. The technique was the interview, with a guide of semi-structured questions. For the interpretative analysis, the Atlas Ti was used. The results showed that formative assessment and competence development are related concepts. In addition, the performance of students in problem solving, with the ability to develop, autonomy, and development of interpersonal skills should be assessed. In conclusion, teachers should seek feedback from their students that leads them to reflection and the discovery of learning.
