Verifying learning achievements and skills development in technology-mediated education is a challenge in countries that have been using the competency-based curriculum. For this reason, the present study aimed to interpret the levels of learning achievements and development of competences through formative assessment. The approach was qualitative of hermeneutic design. The participants were six teachers, experts in formative assessment. The technique was the interview, with a guide of semi-structured questions. For the interpretative analysis, the Atlas Ti was used. The results showed that formative assessment and competence development are related concepts. In addition, the performance of students in problem solving, with the ability to develop, autonomy, and development of interpersonal skills should be assessed. In conclusion, teachers should seek feedback from their students that leads them to reflection and the discovery of learning.
