Resumo

The general objective of this research is to determine the relationship between social networks and academic performance in the area of communication in 4th and 5th year high school students. This study was of a basic type, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design, of a correlational descriptive level, the study population consisted of 194 students, with a stratified probabilistic sample with application of a statistical formula with a total of 129 students, the technique was used From the survey and observation, the questionnaire on social networks was used as instruments using the Likert scale with high reliability; and the record of evaluation records of the communication subject. For validation, the Spearman correlation coefficient was applied, with a value of rs = 0.513, which shows a moderate positive correlation, with a p_value = 0.000 <0.05. Concluding that there is a significant relationship between social networks and academic performance in the area of communication in 4th and 5th year high school students.
