The following article aims to highlight the importance of the competency-based training model and, on the other hand, the development of technological competencies in higher education where ICTs play a predominant role since their incorporation into the educational environment. From here, the study has focused on the realization of a systematic review of the literature and to organize the information by categories, the qualitative method of content analysis was used, for this, the theoretical inputs and central aspects were established around two elements: competencies and technological competencies in the educational field, as well as the importance of their development in an increasingly competitive and changing labor context. The results show the vision that future teachers should have about the development of competencies and technological competencies. Therefore, it is concluded that both elements, being polysemic, contribute to the improvement of educational quality in higher education.
