The general objective of this article is to analyze educational games as an important resource in the learning of mathematics in primary education today. The methodology used in the preparation of this article corresponds to a qualitative approach of average documentary analysis, based on a systematic review of works of a scientific nature indexed in academic journals; which allowed to establish the updates of the didactic tools and techniques in the study area (learning of mathematics in primary education). The results of the reviewed articles show that didactic games improve math learning in primary school students, be they digital, non-digital or a combination of both; the trends towards gamification methodologies provide teaching strategies, adapted to the needs of the current primary school student.
