Abstract The objective of this research work was to conduct a theoretical review on empowerment as an opportunity to improve performance through the development of a theoretical model and its dimensions: attitude chang-es and organizational growth, on the other hand, the origin of empowerment was described, which allowed explaining the importance of empowerment in performance. This research is descriptive and documentary type, based on reviews related to the topic covering empowerment within companies in relation to performance, which were obtained from primary and secondary sources of information: scientific articles in Portuguese, Spanish, English and books. The research work concluded that it would be necessary the application of empowerment within the organization, since it acts as a strengthening and an enhancer to achieve the best performance
