Nowadays it is impossible to think about the existence of an enterprise without the use of technologies, in addition, innovation has become a determining factor of competitiveness and performance in a company, ensuring in the medium and long term its permanence in a competitive environment and with changing needs.

The present research aims to determine the factors that influence the openness to the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the innovation capacity in small and medium-sized companies in Cochabamba, specifically in the industrial sector. The statistical data studied are the result of a total of 38 surveys carried out to managers and executives who perform their role in a SME company, that´s why, it was possible to respond the hypotheses raised and achieve the specific objectives of the research. Data analysis was done through the partial least squares technique, belonging to the structural equations model, using the SmartPLS program.

The results obtained suggest that although the use of ICT and innovation practices in SMEs in Cochabamba are not significant in their performance, they are essential to ensure their permanence in the business world.
