Abstract Introduction: In the learning process, the attitude toward student statistics plays an important role. Objective: Analyze Attitudes towards statistics and associated factors in university students. Methodology: Cross-sectional, analytical study conducted with 172 students. The data collection was carried out in the month of February 2018, with application of a validated scale. The data were coded and digitized in electronic spreadsheets of the Epi Info program and a descriptive, bi-varied and multiple regression analysis was carried out. Results: The majority (53.5%) of the students presented a negative attitude towards statistics. There was a higher prevalence of positive attitudes in students who rated themselves as good - very good their knowledge of statistics and in those who reported not having previous experience. Conclusion: Students' attitudes are negative. Self-qualification and previous experience are the factors associated with attitudes towards statistics.
