VIDAURRE CLADERA, Rafael Fernando  and  OLIVERA VILLAROEL, Sazcha Marcelo. Urban parks in La Paz city, Bolivia: Public policy applications. Investigación y Negocios [online]. 2018, vol.11, n.18, pp.43-51. ISSN 2521-2737.

The decision making for the management of the environment is based on the existing information in a specific space in this case the city, unfortunately many goods and environmental services are not marketed in the markets and therefore do not provide adequate information for the taking of environmental management decisions. In this framework, this work evaluates in economic and monetary terms the environmental benefits of green areas with their policy implications and their effects on the price of housing in the city of La Paz. From the identification of units of vegetation by surface of green area of the different public parks of the city, the "method of hedonic prices" is applied, an indirect measure destined to link the prices of a house in function of the environmental attributes. This method infers environmental values of the property through the price of different properties under similar structural housing conditions. As a result, it is revealed thatthere is a positive effect of the green area on the price of housing in the city of La Paz.

Keywords : Economic valuation; ecosystems; green areas; housing prices; hedonic price models.
